Welcome to London Link Radio's
first Autumn Broadcast - 15
hours of programmes broadcast online from the Desi Radio Training Centre in
Southall during the last weekend in
October. There are three main themes across the programmes: environment,
literature and diversity.

Two stories by the late Debbie Birse: "Howard's
Women" and "Mother Love", read by Vivien Ereira and Peri
Batliwala. Sadly, Debbie died of cancer in 2005. A
book of her writing will shortly be published by Pen
Press, and proceeds donated to the charity CANCERactive. Click

Media
With Micol Carmignani and Jenny Tracey
Looking at media coverage of refugees and asylum seekers in the
British media and at various initiatives and organisations which
campaign for a just and fair portrayal of migrants, refugees and
asylum-seekers. Plus: personal stories and opinions of
those people whose voices are rarely heard in mainstream media and
examples of training and employment opportunities for refugees
and asylum-seekers in London. Interviews include representatives
from the Exiled Journalists Network, the Press Complaints
Commission and the Migrant Resource Centre.

Sounds, thoughts and writings on the environment.
Including "Beach Life" by Kate Rudman, a
feature exploring the pleasures of fossil hunting on Dorset's
jurassic coast, and "Dawn chorus in Somers Town"

Plus: soundscapes recorded by members of the
Women's Radio Group Fast
